Formula behind every script: [Name] → [You + company, once] → [Reason tied to their world] → [Specific value or reason to call back] → [Clear ask + number, said slowly] → [Sign-off] Keep every voicemail under 20-25 seconds. Say your phone number twice, slowly, at the end — always.
1. First cold outreach (no prior contact) "Hi [Name], this is [Your Name] from [Company]. I'm calling because we work with [role/title]s at companies like [similar company] on [specific problem]. I'll send a quick email right after this with more detail — if it's relevant, call me back at [number], that's [number] again. Thanks, [Name]."
2. Follow-up after a cold email "Hi [Name], it's [Your Name] from [Company] again — I sent you an email [day] about [specific topic]. Didn't want it to just sit in your inbox. If [problem] is on your radar at all, I'd love 10 minutes. Reach me at [number], [number]. Talk soon."
3. Follow-up after LinkedIn connection/engagement "Hi [Name], [Your Name] here from [Company] — we connected on LinkedIn [timeframe] after you [commented/liked/viewed]. Figured I'd put a voice to the name. I work with folks on [specific problem] — happy to just trade notes if useful. [Number], [number]."
4. Referral mention "Hi [Name], this is [Your Name] from [Company]. [Referrer's name] suggested I reach out — they mentioned you're working on [specific initiative]. I'd like to hear more and share how we've helped similar teams. Call me at [number], [number], or I'll try you again this week."
5. Trigger event (funding, expansion, leadership change) "Hi [Name], [Your Name] from [Company]. Saw the news about [specific trigger — new funding/office/hire]. Congrats. Companies going through that usually run into [specific problem] around this stage — wanted to see if that's true for you too. [Number], [number]."
6. After a webinar/content download "Hi [Name], this is [Your Name] from [Company]. Saw you joined our session on [topic] — wanted to see what prompted the interest and whether it's something you're actively working through right now. Call me back at [number], [number], happy to just answer questions, no pitch."
7. After a no-show on a scheduled call/demo "Hi [Name], it's [Your Name] from [Company] — we had time booked for [time] and I didn't want to assume anything went wrong. Life happens. Let me know if you'd like to grab a new time, or if priorities shifted, that's fine too — just let me know either way. [Number], [number]."
8. Post-demo follow-up (no response since demo) "Hi [Name], [Your Name] from [Company]. Following up after our demo on [date] — wanted to check where things landed on your end, especially around [specific concern raised in the demo]. Happy to jump on a quick call to answer anything that's come up. [Number], [number]."
9. Multi-threading a new stakeholder "Hi [Name], this is [Your Name] from [Company] — [existing contact] suggested I loop you in given your role in [specific area]. I'd like to get your take on [specific relevant question] before we go further with [existing contact]. Call me at [number], [number]."
10. Renewal/check-in (existing customer, low-touch) "Hi [Name], it's [Your Name] from [Company], your account contact. Nothing urgent — just doing a check-in ahead of [renewal/quarter] to see how things are going with [product/feature] and if there's anything I can help unblock. [Number], [number], or reply to my email, whichever's easier."
11. Reconnect after long silence (dormant lead) "Hi [Name], [Your Name] from [Company] — it's been a while since we last spoke about [original topic]. Wanted to check whether [problem] is still something you're dealing with, or if things have changed since. No agenda either way — [number], [number]."
12. Price/budget objection follow-up "Hi [Name], it's [Your Name] from [Company]. Following up on the budget question from our last call — I've put together a couple of options that might work better for where things stand, including [specific flexibility, e.g., phased rollout]. Worth 10 minutes to walk through? [Number], [number]."
13. Breakup/last attempt voicemail "Hi [Name], [Your Name] from [Company] one more time. I don't want to keep filling your voicemail, so I'll stop reaching out after this — but if [problem] becomes a priority down the line, my door's open. [Number], [number]. All the best either way."
14. Inbound lead follow-up (they requested info) "Hi [Name], this is [Your Name] from [Company] — you requested info on [product/topic] through our site. Calling to understand what prompted the request so I can point you to the right thing rather than send something generic. [Number], [number], or feel free to just reply to my email."
15. Holiday/time-sensitive (end of quarter/fiscal deadline) "Hi [Name], [Your Name] from [Company]. Quick one — we're wrapping up [quarter/fiscal year] on [date], and if [specific benefit, e.g., pricing/timeline] matters to you, this is the window to lock it in. No pressure, just wanted you to have the option. [Number], [number]."
Delivery rules that matter more than the words
- Smile before you dial — it changes your tone even on a recording
- Never leave two voicemails back-to-back with no email or text in between
- State your number FIRST at normal speed once, then SLOWLY at the end — most people miss it the first time
- Never say "just following up" as the entire reason for calling — always attach a specific reason
- Track which scripts you've used per contact so you're not repeating yourself call after call
How to use it
Match the scenario to the prospect's situation, fill in the bracketed specifics, and read the delivery rules before the first live dial — especially the rule about saying your number twice, slowly.
