Video Prospecting Script Templates

Five word-for-word 30-second video scripts for LinkedIn and email outreach, built on a Hook-Relevance-Value-CTA structure, plus delivery tips for reps who dread being on camera.

What's inside

  • The 30-second Hook-Relevance-Value-CTA framework with exact timing
  • Trigger-event script template
  • Mutual-connection/referral script template
  • Content-engagement script template
  • Competitor-switch script template
  • No-trigger / role-based relevance script template
  • Camera-shy delivery tips
  • Paired follow-up message templates (LinkedIn + email)

The structure — 30 seconds, every time:

SegmentTimeJob
Hook0–5sSay their name, say why this video exists — no "hi, hope you're well"
Relevance5–12sThe specific reason this is for them (trigger, mutual connection, content, competitor)
Value12–22sOne sentence, one outcome — never a feature list
CTA22–30sOne specific, low-friction ask

Record 2–3 takes max. The first take is usually the most natural — resist over-scripting your delivery, just hit the beats.

Template 1 — Trigger event (funding, expansion, leadership change)

"Hi [Name] — [Rep] here at [Company]. Saw [Company/their company] just [trigger event, e.g. 'closed your Series B' / 'opened the Austin office'] — congrats. Usually when that happens, [specific operational pressure that follows the trigger] becomes the next problem. We help teams like [peer company] handle exactly that. If it's relevant, worth 15 minutes — I'll drop a link below."

Template 2 — Mutual connection / referral

"Hi [Name] — [Rep] from [Company]. [Mutual connection] mentioned you're leading [function] at [Company] and thought we should connect. We've helped a few people in [mutual connection]'s network with [specific outcome] — wanted to see if that's on your radar too. If so, happy to grab 15 minutes."

Template 3 — Content engagement (they posted/commented on something relevant)

"Hi [Name] — [Rep] here. Saw your post about [specific topic they posted on] and it's exactly the problem we spend our day on. Wanted to share how [similar company] approached the same thing — not a pitch, just thought it might be useful given what you wrote. Open to a quick look?"

Template 4 — Competitor switch (they use a competitor's tool)

"Hi [Name] — [Rep] from [Company]. Noticed [Company] uses [competitor] for [function] — no complaints assumed, just curious how it's going. A few teams that made the switch to us saw [specific outcome, e.g. 'a third fewer manual steps']. If [competitor] is working perfectly, ignore this — if there's friction, worth a look."

Template 5 — No trigger / pure role relevance

"Hi [Name] — [Rep] at [Company]. No specific reason for reaching out other than: you run [function] at a company that looks like our best customers. Most [role]s we talk to are dealing with [named problem]. If that's true for you too, happy to show you how [peer company] solved it — 15 minutes, your call."

Delivery tips for camera-shy reps

  • Prop the script, don't memorize it. Print it in 24pt font, tape it just behind the camera lens so your eyeline stays close to natural.
  • Screen-share instead of face-to-camera for the "relevance" section — pull up their LinkedIn or company site and talk over it; your face isn't required for the whole 30 seconds.
  • Natural beats polished. A small stumble reads as human, not unprofessional — don't re-record more than 3 times, diminishing returns kick in fast.
  • Sit, don't stand, and keep the camera at eye level — phone propped against a book works fine.
  • Smile before you hit record, not during — it changes your baseline tone for the whole take.
  • First and last 3 seconds matter most — nail the hook and the CTA; the middle can be looser.

Paired follow-up message (send alongside or right after the video)

LinkedIn:

"Sent you a quick video above ↑ — 30 seconds on [specific reason]. No worries if it's not relevant, just let me know either way."

Email:

Subject: quick video for [Company] [Name] — recorded a 30-second video for you: [link]. Covers [one-line reason]. Take a look when you get a sec — happy to skip straight to a call if that's easier: [scheduling link].
