Video Prospecting Script Swipe File

Openers and structure for 60-second personalized Loom/Vidyard outreach across five real scenarios — cold, referral, re-engagement, post-demo, and event follow-up — built to consistently outperform plain-text email.

What's inside

  • The universal 60-second structure with second-by-second timing
  • Filming rules that affect reply rate (eye line, thumbnail, take selection)
  • Script for cold, researched outreach
  • Script for referral/mutual-connection outreach
  • Script for re-engaging a gone-quiet prospect
  • Script for post-demo follow-up
  • Script for post-event follow-up
  • The one rule that determines whether to send video at all

Structure and word-for-word openers for 60-second personalized video (Loom/Vidyard) outreach. Video outperforms plain text because it's harder to ignore and impossible to mistake for a template — but only if you follow the structure.

The universal 60-second structure

  • 0:00-0:08 — Say their name and one specific, real detail about them or their company (proves you didn't mail-merge this).
  • 0:08-0:20 — State the reason you're reaching out, tied to that detail.
  • 0:20-0:40 — One sharp insight or observation (not a pitch) relevant to their situation.
  • 0:40-0:55 — Soft, specific ask — a real yes/no question, not "let me know if you're interested."
  • 0:55-1:00 — Sign-off, first name only, no logo slide, no tagline.

Filming rules that affect reply rate

  • Look at the camera lens, not the screen — eye contact reads as sincerity even on video.
  • Record the first take you don't wince at. Over-polished, over-rehearsed video reads as scripted and undoes the personalization.
  • Thumbnail: freeze mid-smile holding up their company name or logo on a whiteboard/paper — the thumbnail drives the open, before a second of it plays.
  • Keep it under 90 seconds always. Reply rate drops sharply past that.

Script 1 — Cold, researched

"Hey [First Name], [Your Name] here. I was looking at [Company]'s [specific thing — new product page, job posting, recent post] and had a thought I wanted to share instead of just emailing it. [Insight relevant to what you noticed — 1-2 sentences]. Didn't want to just drop that in a cold email, wanted you to actually hear it. If it's relevant, worth 15 minutes — if not, no worries, just wanted to flag it either way."

Script 2 — Referral / mutual connection

"Hey [First Name], [Your Name] here — [Mutual Name] suggested I reach out, mentioned you're working on [topic/initiative] right now. Wanted to record this quickly rather than send a cold message, because [reason relevant to their situation]. Happy to share what I shared with [Mutual Name] if it's useful — just reply back and I'll send it over."

Script 3 — Re-engagement (gone quiet after initial interest)

"Hey [First Name], [Your Name] again. Know it's been a bit since we last spoke about [topic] — figured I'd check in on video rather than another email in your inbox. Quick question: is [original problem/goal] still something you're actively working through, or has it dropped off the priority list for now? Either answer's totally fine, just want to know where to leave things."

Script 4 — Post-demo follow-up (gone quiet after a demo/call)

"Hey [First Name], following up after our conversation on [date] about [topic]. Wanted to do this on video because I know inboxes get busy. On our call you mentioned [specific concern/objection they raised] — I put together [resource/answer] that speaks directly to that, wanted you to see it before you make a call either way."

Script 5 — Event follow-up

"Hey [First Name], great [meeting you / catching your session] at [Event Name]. You mentioned [specific detail] — been thinking about that since, and wanted to share [insight/resource] rather than let it sit in a follow-up email you might skim past. Worth a quick follow-up chat, or should I just send the resource over?"

The one thing that matters more than the script

Every script above only works if line 1 proves genuine research. If you can't fill in a real, specific detail about the recipient or their company, don't send the video — send a text email instead and go research the account properly first.

How to use it

Pick the script matching your scenario, record it in one take following the timing structure, and set the thumbnail manually before sending — never rely on the tool's auto-generated frame.
