Discovery Question Generator

Generic discovery questions get generic answers. Pick the industry you're selling into, who you're actually talking to, and where the deal sits, and this tool builds a categorised set of situation, pain, impact, and decision-criteria questions weighted for that exact conversation — ready to copy straight into your call notes.

Your numbers

Shapes the business-driver language used in the questions.
Changes which angle — ROI, internal risk, workflow, architecture, or cost — gets emphasised.
Later stages shift the mix toward impact and decision criteria.
If you already know why they're looking now, it gets woven into two of the questions.

Method & assumptions

  • Questions are drawn from a fixed bank per category (Situation, Pain, Impact, Decision Criteria) and filtered/weighted by deal stage and buyer role — not AI-generated, so the same inputs always produce the same set.
  • Stage weighting follows standard consultative-selling practice: early conversations lean on situation and pain, later-stage conversations lean on impact and decision process.
  • Buyer-role questions add the 1-3 most relevant angles for that role (ROI for economic buyers, internal risk for champions, workflow for end users, architecture for technical evaluators, cost/process for procurement) — always read the room and skip questions that don't fit.
  • The optional trigger field is woven into two questions verbatim; everything you type is treated as plain text and safely escaped before display.

How to use it

Pick the industry you're selling into, choose who you're actually talking to (economic buyer, champion, end user, technical evaluator, or procurement), set the deal stage, and select the closest match for what you're selling. Add a known trigger if you have one — a compliance deadline, an outage, a budget freeze — and it gets woven directly into two of the questions. The tool instantly builds a 10-question bank split across Situation, Pain, Impact, and Decision Criteria, weighted for that stage (early calls lean on situation/pain, negotiation leans on impact/decision). Hit "Copy all questions" to grab the plain-text version for your notes or CRM.
