Team Social Selling Index Benchmark Tracker

A quarterly tracking template for logging every rep's Social Selling Index across LinkedIn's four SSI pillars, so managers can see the team trend line move — or stall — at a glance instead of guessing who's actually building a social pipeline.

What's inside

  • The 4 SSI pillars explained (what LinkedIn actually measures in each)
  • A free proxy-scoring method for teams without Sales Navigator seats
  • Quarterly per-rep logging table, ready to paste into a spreadsheet
  • Scoring bands: Novice / Developing / Strong / Elite
  • Team roll-up formulas (average, median, % Strong+, biggest mover/decliner)
  • Automatic flag rules that tell you exactly when a score drop needs a conversation
  • A worked example with 3 reps across two quarters
  • Manager review cadence and what to do with flagged reps

What SSI Actually Measures

LinkedIn's Social Selling Index (SSI) scores every profile 0–100, split across four pillars, 0–25 each:

  1. Establish your professional brand — profile completeness, content quality and consistency
  2. Find the right people — how effectively they use search/lead tools to identify the right accounts and contacts
  3. Engage with insights — sharing and reacting to relevant content, starting conversations from it
  4. Build relationships — the size and seniority-relevance of their network of decision-makers

Any rep can check their own score free at linkedin.com/sales/ssi — no Sales Navigator seat required to view it, though the underlying activity that drives pillars 2 and 4 is easier with one.

No Sales Navigator on your team? Use this proxy rubric instead

Score each pillar 0–25 using these anchors:

Quarterly Tracker Table

Copy this into Google Sheets or Excel:

Worked example

Maria T.Q2 2026201815197265+7StrongNo
Maria T.Q3 2026211917207772+5StrongNo
Devon K.Q2 202614128114548-3DevelopingNo
Devon K.Q3 202611106103745-8NoviceNo (watch)
Priya S.Q2 2026222019218270+12EliteNo
Priya S.Q3 2026101512145182-31DevelopingYES

Priya's -31 drop is exactly the pattern this tracker is built to catch — a strong performer who quietly stopped, invisible if you only look at the current quarter's number in isolation.

Scoring Bands

BandTotal Score
Novice0–40
Developing41–60
Strong61–75
Elite76–100

(These are ThinkWork's internal benchmarking bands, not LinkedIn's own published cutoffs — use them consistently across quarters rather than treating them as an industry standard.)

Team Roll-Up Formulas

Paste these into your tracker sheet:

  • Team Average Total: =AVERAGE(TotalColumn)
  • Team Median Total: =MEDIAN(TotalColumn)
  • % Strong or Elite: =(COUNTIF(BandColumn,"Strong")+COUNTIF(BandColumn,"Elite"))/COUNT(RepColumn)
  • Biggest mover: rep with MAX(QoQ Δ)
  • Biggest decliner: rep with MIN(QoQ Δ)

Flag Rules — When a Score Triggers a Conversation

  • QoQ Δ ≤ -10 points → automatic flag, regardless of band
  • Any single pillar ≤10/25 for 2 consecutive quarters → flag, with that pillar named as the specific coaching focus
  • Total below 40 for 2 consecutive quarters → flag as a development priority, not just a data point

Manager Cadence

  1. Pull every rep's score on the same day each quarter (e.g. first Monday) — consistency matters more than the exact date
  2. Complete the team roll-up within 3 business days
  3. Hold flagged-rep 1:1s within 10 business days of the pull — lead with the specific pillar that triggered the flag, not a generic "your score dropped"
  4. Share the team roll-up (not individual scores) in a team meeting to normalize tracking this as a real metric, not a vanity number

How to use it

Copy the table into a spreadsheet, pull each rep's SSI score (or proxy score) on the same day every quarter, and use the banding and flag rules to decide who needs a coaching conversation versus who's on track.
