Sales Skills Resume & LinkedIn Bullet Generator
A fill-in-the-blank formula and verb bank that turns your quota attainment and named competencies into resume and LinkedIn bullets hiring managers actually screen for — not generic "results-driven closer" copy.
What's inside
- The bullet formula: Skill verb + Named competency + Quantified result + Scale
- A verb bank mapped to all 12 core sales competencies
- A fill-in-the-blank numbers worksheet (quota, deal size, territory, cycle time)
- 6 fully worked example bullets by competency
- A 4-point bullet-quality scoring checklist
- LinkedIn headline, About-section, and Skills-section formulas
The formula
Every bullet = [Skill verb] + [Named competency] + [to achieve quantified result] + [scale/context].
Hiring managers screen for the competency word and the number in the same sentence — generic "results-driven closer" bullets get filtered out. Always name the actual skill.
Step 1 — Pick your verb by competency

| Discovery & Needs Analysis | Diagnosed, Uncovered, Surfaced, Quantified |
| Qualification & Deal Strategy | Prioritized, Triaged, Built, Architected |
| Objection Handling | Resolved, Reframed, Navigated, De-risked |
| Negotiation | Negotiated, Structured, Closed, Secured |
| Active Listening / Discovery synthesis | Synthesized, Translated, Distilled |
| Storytelling & Value Narrative | Positioned, Articulated, Reframed |
| Stakeholder Mapping | Mapped, Aligned, Multi-threaded, Coordinated |
| Executive Presence | Presented, Briefed, Advised, Partnered with |
| Pipeline / Forecast | Forecasted, Managed, Maintained |
| Account Planning | Expanded, Penetrated, Grew |
| Cross-functional Collaboration | Partnered, Coordinated, Aligned |
| Coaching / Enablement | Mentored, Trained, Onboarded |
Step 2 — Fill in your own numbers
- Quota attainment: ____% (e.g., 128%)
- Average deal size: $____ → $____ (before/after or your number vs. team average)
- Number of accounts / territory size: ____
- Deal complexity: ____ stakeholders / ____-stage cycle
- Time metric: ramped in ____ weeks / cycle shortened by ____%
- Retention/expansion: ____% net revenue retention on your book
Step 3 — Assemble (worked examples)
Before (tactic-shaped, no named skill, no number): "Closed deals and built strong relationships with clients."
After (skill + number + scale): "Diagnosed unquantified pain through structured discovery, then negotiated and closed 34 enterprise deals (128% of quota) averaging $56K, up from a team average of $41K."
More worked examples by competency:
- Discovery: "Uncovered and quantified operational cost-of-inaction across 40+ discovery calls, lifting average deal size 22% by anchoring proposals to a number the buyer surfaced, not one I pitched."
- Objection Handling: "Resolved procurement- and legal-stage objections on 90% of late-stage deals by isolating the real blocker before proposing terms, cutting average time-in-negotiation from 19 to 11 days."
- Stakeholder Mapping: "Multi-threaded and aligned buying committees averaging 5 stakeholders across a 30-account enterprise territory, improving win rate on multi-stakeholder deals from 24% to 41%."
- Negotiation: "Structured and closed 12 multi-year contracts (avg. $180K ACV) by trading non-price terms for commitment, holding average discount under 8% versus a 15% team average."
- Coaching/Enablement: "Mentored 4 newly ramped AEs on discovery and objection-handling technique, contributing to a 3-week reduction in average ramp time for the pod."
- Account Planning: "Grew a 22-account enterprise territory from $1.1M to $1.6M net-new + expansion ARR by building and executing named-account whitespace plans."
Step 4 — Bullet quality checklist (score each bullet 0-3)
- Names a specific competency, not a generic trait ("closer," "hunter")
- Contains at least one hard number
- Shows scale or context (team size, territory, deal complexity)
- Passes the "so what" test — a hiring manager can tell what you'd be good at doing for them
Score 12/12 across your top 4 bullets before you consider the resume done.
LinkedIn-specific adaptations
- Headline formula:
[Role] | [Top named competency] specialist | [Signature result]
Example: "Enterprise AE | Multi-thread stakeholder mapping & negotiation | Grew territory 45% YoY"
- Skills section: list actual competency names (Discovery & Needs Analysis, Stakeholder Mapping, Negotiation) instead of generic tags like "Sales" — recruiters search these terms.
- About-section opener: one sentence naming your #1 competency and the career arc it's building toward: "I specialize in structured discovery and multi-thread stakeholder mapping — the two skills that let me consistently win enterprise deals with 5+ decision-makers."
How to use it
Fill in your own numbers in the Step 2 worksheet, pick 3-4 competencies you're strongest in, then assemble bullets using the Step 3 formula and score each against the Step 4 checklist before pasting into your resume or LinkedIn profile.
